BROOKINGS — Colman-Egan’s Taylor Kriech tied for second in the Class B Boys State Golf Tournament on Tuesday afternoon at the Brookings Country Club.
Krich finished the tournament at eight-over (+8) after shooting a 76 in the second round. He shot a 76 in the first round as well. Kriech had one birdie on Tuesday and for the tournament he finished with five birdies and 20 pars.
Sully Buttes’ Gavin Colson finished in first place after shooting six-over par. Ipswich’s Chet Peterson tied with Kriech. McIntosh’s Wyatt Larson and Wessington Springs’ Blake Larson tied for fourth (+10).
Wessington Springs won the team championship as the Spartans shot a total of 478. Hanson came in second (479) and Hamlin finished in third (481). Ipswich came in fourth (494) and Chester rounded out the top five (496).
There were four other Brookings area golfers in the tournament. Deubrook Area’s Gavin Landmark tied for 18th (+18) and Elkton Lake Benton’s Tanner Drietz tied for 73rd (+32). Arlington’s Spencer Heflin tied for 95th (183) and Estelline/Hendricks’ Cade Hexum tied for 117th (+52).
