Thomas F. Corcoran, 79, of Flandreau, SD, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024 at his home. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Second Presbyterian Church in Flandreau, SD. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the memorial service at 10:00 AM, also, at Second Presbyterian Church.
Thomas was born on April 21, 1944 to Raymond and Isabell (Hirzel) Corcoran in Flandreau, SD. He grew up and received his education at Sinai Country School. His family then moved to the family homestead in Flandreau.
Tom was an incredibly hard worker as a sheep shearer, a job that he worked at until he was 76 years old.
He enjoyed fishing as a hobby, but more than anything he loved being a grandfather and enjoyed spending much time with his grandchildren and great grandson.
He was a member of the South Dakota Army National Guard and attended church at Second Presbyterian in Flandreau.
Tom was a glass half full kind of guy. His family and those close to him will always remember his ability to find the good things in any situation and also being one of the most patient people they ever knew.
Grateful for having shared his life are his children, Sheila (Doug) Hanneman, Rapid City, SD, and son, Tom (Angie) Corcoran Jr., Flandreau, SD; his siblings, Mike (Deanna) Corcoran, Flandreau, SD, Betty Martens, Sioux Falls, Pat Kanz, Flandreau, SD, Jan Bos, Edgerton, MN, Dennis (Heather) Corcoran, Flandreau, SD, Greg (Laurie) Corcoran, Apache Junction, AZ, and Ray Corcoran, Flandreau, SD; grandchildren, Alyssa (Chris) Raley, Livingston, MT, Zackary Long, and Hannah Walker, both of Rapid City, SD; great-grandson, Clive Thomas Raley; brothers and sisters-in-law, Linda (Lloyd) Donley, Brookings, SD, Lorraine (Monte) Johnson, Flandreau, SD, Larry (Annette) Christensen, Luck, Wisconsin, and CarlaJean Tokpan, Sioux Falls, SD; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Isabell Corcoran, wife, Lavonne Corcoran, daughter, Cheryl Corcoran, sister, Phyllis Corcoran, brother, Roy Corcoran, and sister Bonnie O’Brien
