Kathleen “Kathy” Marie Relf of Avondale, AZ, passed away on March 29, 2024 at Tender Loving Care Facility in Surprise, AZ due to declining health.
Kathy was born October 20, 1951 in Madison, SD to Leo, Sr. and Gladys (Thiele) Heinricy. She grew up in Colman and graduated from Colman High School in 1969. On October 24, 1969, she was united in marriage to Larry Relf in Colman and they had two children, Jim and Brad. She remained in Colman until 1981 when she relocated to Arizona. She worked for the Cigna Healthcare Clinic in Sun City until her retirement. On October 26, 1995, she was united in marriage to Kenneth “Chuck” Schmidt in Phoenix. Chuck preceded her in death in 2018.
Kathy enjoyed baking, gardening, caring for her beloved pets and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her two sons: Jim (Holly) Relf and Brad (Melissa) Relf, both of Sioux Falls; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother: Dick (Darlene) Heinricy of Colman and a host of many closed treasured family and friends in Arizona.
Besides her husband Chuck, she was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Leo John Heinricy.
