Soaking up the Summer Sun

Posted

As back-to-school ads begin to pop up and the calendar turns this week to August, kids and families are doing all they can to soak up what is left of summer vacation.
This past weekend both the Flandreau and Colman public pools were busy with people seeking to be outside and find a way to enjoy the heat and humidity. Temperatures hovered near 90 degrees over the weekend during the day and fell back into the 70’s at night.
The National Weather Service issued a warning to know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke as temperatures are expected to hover in the upper 80’s to 90 with high heat and humidity expected to continue throughout the week.
Colman pool lifeguard Aneesa McGuire. a junior in school this fall, keeps cool with umbrellas over her chair and a freezie pop as she keeps watch over the swimmers.
