Oshel Dwain “O.D.” Edwards, 81, of Flandreau, SD passed away, Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Riverview Healthcare Community after a lingering illness.
Oshel was born August 15, 1936 at Leon, WV to Harry and Bernice (Morgan) Edwards. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1951 and was discharged in 1961 having served as a navy seal part of this time. He married Elizabeth Ann Cohen in Las Vegas in December 1960. They had one son Dwain “Hoss” and one daughter Lesle Lynn. O.D. worked at various trades during his lifetime. He farmed and owned his own trucking company “All West.” He bought a ranch in Charlo, MT and resided there after leaving a farm near Egan, SD. He married JoAnn Anderson Nichols in October 2012 and then moved to Flandreau. They spent several years RVing after he retired with his canine buddy “Harley.” They purchased a home in Wickenburg, AZ and planned to retire there but plans changed and they moved back to Flandreau in November 2016.
He is survived by his wife JoAnn; son Dwain (Linda) Edwards, Polson, MT; twin grandchildren, Dillon Edwards and Ashley (Ken) Mittag, Polson, MT; granddaughter Lesle (Robert) Jellison, Ontario, OR; stepchildren, Janet Babcock (John Van Beeck), Sioux Falls; Laurie (Kerry) Thomas, Flandreau; James (Rita) Babcock, Kenai, AK; great-grandson Robert Jellison III, Ontario, OR; sister-in-law Barbara Anderson, Brandon, SD; brother-in-law Larry Anderson, Flandreau; and special friends, Jeff Newell, Vinton, OH and Denny Neises, Flandreau. Oschel was preceded in death by his daughter Lesle, his parents, sister Hazel and brother James.
