Kimberly A. DeCoteau, 66, of Flandreau, SD passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at her home under hospice care.
Kimberly Ann Ree was born in Wagner, SD on July 4, 1951 to June Ree Perry. She was raised by her maternal grandparents, Samson and Catherine (St. Pierre) Ree. Kim’s early education was in Wagner and she graduated from Flandreau Indian School. She married her high school classmate, Earl J. “Ducks” DeCoteau Sr., on July 18, 1970 in Lake Andes, SD. They moved to Flandreau in 1973 and both went to work at the Flandreau Indian School. Kim worked as a home living supervisor for 29 years and 3 months. After retiring Kim enjoyed beading, shopping, taking care of her grandson, Brady, spending time with family and friends and watching her favorite TV shows, Housewives and Dr. Phil.
Kim is survived by her husband, Earl “Ducks”; son, Earl DeCoteau Jr., five grandchildren, Brady DeCoteau, Kaitlyn DeCoteau, Donte DeCoteau, Reese LaFloe and Haley Red Earth; three great grandchildren, Emery, Avery and Matalia; two sisters, Elizabeth Perry and Kathy Perry; six brothers, Gale Perry, David Perry, Marcus Perry, Tracy Perry, Robert Perry and Mark Perry; brothers and sisters-in-law; Betty (Norman) Swain, Shirley Belgrade, Lolly Lindquist, Gary (Elaine) DeCoteau, Kenny (Patty) DeCoteau, Dean DeCoteau (Steve Tank), Rapheal (Carla) DeCoteau, LeRoy (Wendy) DeCoteau, Esther Perdomo, Wesley (Ronette) DeCoteau, Gene (Kim) DeCoteau and Terry (Myrna) DeCoteau.
Kim was preceded in death by her daughter, Jody Marie DeCoteau; her mother, June Perry; her grandparents; one brother, Kenny Perry; sister-in-law, Susie Davis-Morin and brother-in-law, Leslie DeCoteau.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Eastman Hall in Flandreau with burial in 1st Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Eastman Hall. www.skrochfc.com
