Flier girls drop record to 6-16

FLANDREAU – Dig Pink Night at Flier volleyball raised funds to aid in the fight against cancer, but the Flandreau team lost the match to the Beresford Watchdogs, 3-1.
The Fliers jumped out to a first set win, 25-22, but then lost three straight, 12-25, 12-25 and a hard fought last set, 27-25.
Aly Schepel had three aces and 25 assists for the Fliers and Sadie Iott had 12 attacks and 21 digs. Morgan Kontz led the team in digs with 23. Ella Hoffman also had six kills.
The 6-16 Fliers had the rest of the week off and were to play at Clark/Willow Lake on Tuesday and then have another week off until October 22 when they travel to Parker.

Flyers stop Hawks

CHESTER — Class B No. 1 ranked Chester Area Flyers won in straight sets over rival Colman-Egan by scores of 25-19, 25-11 and 25-18.
The Hawks were led by Brynlee Landis who had 13 kills and 10 digs. Finley Luze had 10 assists and seven kills. Presley Luze had 15 digs and Kaylee Voelker had 12 assists.
Chester was led by Lily VanHal who had 23 assists and 12 kills. Jacy Wolf had 15 digs and 10 assists. Katelyn Schut had 11 kills. Grace Huntimer and Lexi Bauman each had 11 digs.
Colman-Egan dropped to 13-4 and was to host Bridgewater-Emery on Tuesday.
