Terry (Terrance) Dean Brende, 73, of Marion, IA, passed from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Sunday, June 3, 2018 following a short but courageous battle with esophageal cancer, surrounded by his loving family.
Terry Brende was born on February 2, 1945 in Chester, SD, to John and Marie (Putzke) Brende. Terry married his life love, Ina Kinyon on June 4, 1966 at Colman Lutheran Church. Terry and Ina moved to Marion, IA in 1969 when Terry began his employment at Rockwell Collins. Terry dedicated 30 years to Rockwell Collins retiring in 1999. With his free time, Terry pursued his love for his family and friends, his love for genealogy and his love for Christ’s church.
Left to cherish Terry’s memories are his wife of almost 52 years: Ina; his daughter: Angela (Todd) Tharp of Ames, his son: Aaron Brende of Marion; his grandchildren: Brett (Morgan) Tharp of Cedar Falls and Mason Tharp of Ames; his sister: Bonnie (Ted) Hanson of Black Hawk, SD, his brother: Ramon (Susan) Brende of Wentworth, SD, his sister-in-law: Ruth Brende of Cambridge, SD, many nieces and nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his middle grandson, Connor Dean Tharp, his brother, James Brende, and his parents.
In lieu of flowers, the family has respectfully requested that any memorial contribution be made to Community Congregational Church of Manchester, IA or to Connor’s Cause, a ministry led by his family in memory of his grandson, Connor.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Community Congregational Church in Manchester, IA following a 10 a.m. visitation at the church. Terry requested his final resting place to be at “home” in South Dakota. A visitation for family and friends in will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Colman, SD from 5 - 7 p.m. Graveside Services will take place at Colman Cemetery on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. with a light luncheon to follow at Colman Lutheran Church.
