Stephen J. Flanagan, 71, of Palm Harbor, FL, passed away July 19, 2021 unexpectedly in Collinsville, IL while returning home from a trip.
Stephen was born August 27, 1949 at Watertown, SD to Frank and Kathryn (Ralph) Flanagan. He graduated from Egan High School in 1967 and received his electrical engineering degree from SDSU in 1971 and later received a MS degree in business. Steve married Audrey Alberts on September 18, 1971 in Flandreau, SD. Steve worked for Lockheed and they made their home in Eagan, MN, New Hampshire, Savage, MN and then moved to Palm Harbor, FL in 1983. Steve was an active church member, SDSU alumni and fan, enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, an avid sports enthusiast and made annual trips to South Dakota to see family and friends. Steve had strong faith and family values. Audrey passed away on November 9, 2005.
Steve is survived by two daughters, Dawn Flanagan and Stacey Dasher, both of Palm Harbor, FL; three grandchildren, Dalton, Kylie and Davin Dasher; brother Ralph (Donna) Flanagan, Sioux Falls; sisters, Lue Roby, Watertown, SD, Mary (Vince) Maag, Sioux Falls, Joan Haugen, Marshall, MN, Sheila Bonrud, Pierre, SD; brother-in-law Bob Brekke, Sioux Falls; four sisters-in-law, Glenda Neal, Rapid City, Kathy (Bob) Bothwell, Huron, SD, Jeanne (Al) Larson, Flandreau and Pat Flanagan, Naperville, IL. Steve was preceded in death by his wife Audrey, parents, two brothers, Bill and James and a sister Pat Brekke.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, Flandreau, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 pm Tuesday with a 7:00 pm scripture service at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau. www.skrochfc.com
