Shirlee M. Rhead, 80, of Flandreau, SD, passed away Friday, January 10, 2020 at her home.
Shirlee was born to Roy and Elenora (Ritter) Duhaime on April 17, 1939 in Woonsocket, SD. Shirlee was raised in Elk Point, SD and graduated from Elk Point High School. She was involved in numerous high school activities, including band majorette. She attended business school at Sioux City, IA. Shirlee married Dennis Rhead on December 31, 1960 at Sioux City, IA. She was a cashier at Shodrack and Park Jefferson until moving to Flandreau in 1963. Shirlee also worked at Kuhle-Sutton Agency, John Shaeffer Law Office, State Farm Insurance, was a cashier at Royal River Casino and managed the Southview Apartments for over 30 years. Dennis preceded her in death on March 22, 2001. Shirlee was a member of Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church and Altar Society. Denny, Shirlee and Brad enjoyed many weekends boating on Lake Madison. Shirlee and Denny also loved vacationing on the Hawaiian Islands. She was a cancer survivor, an avid gardener, a sports enthusiast and was a big fan of the Nebraska Corn Huskers.
Shirlee is survived by her son: Brad and two grandchildren: Nick and Rhea, all of Deadwood; four siblings: JeanAnn (Robert) Gullikson, Yankton, Barbara Chisholm, Rapid City, Jerry (Sandra) Duhaime, Dakota Dunes and Connie (Merton) Tice, Rapid City; her dog: Carson, and many nieces and nephews.
Shirlee was preceded by her husband, daughter-in-law Kim, her parents, brother-in-law Allan Chisholm, and a niece Kari.
Funeral service was held January 19, 2020 at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau, with burial at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Elk Point, SD. www.skrochfc.com
