Lorraine M. (Frauenberg) Headrick Luke, 86, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on November 20, 2019, at her home in Phoenix, AZ.
Lorraine Marie was born April 16, 1933, at Egan, SD, to Frank and Louise Frauenberg. She attended Egan High School, was their first Homecoming Queen, and graduated in 1951 as the Salutatorian of her class. Lorraine then went on to attend Dakota State Teachers College in Madison, SD. She married Boyd Headrick on August 27, 1952, and they had five children together. Lorraine was Riverview Manor’s Nursing Home Activity Director from 1966 to 1987, until she moved to Arizona. She then worked for Scottsdale Heritage Court, Hearthstone of Mesa, Walmart, and was a Hospice of the Valley volunteer. On July 22, 1988, Lorraine married Kenneth Luke, and they enjoyed several happy years of marriage until his passing. Lorraine enjoyed dancing and performing with the Kitchen Band; she was a member of the Red Hat Society, Readers Theater at Lifestream Senior Living, Bible Study, and Resurrection Lutheran Church Primetimers Group. Above all, she loved nothing more than to be surrounded by her family; every person that met her, fell in love with her and wanted to adopt her as their own. Lorraine ended every encounter with “Consider yourself hugged and remind yourself every day just how special you are. Thank you for all of the yesterday’s we have shared.” Lorraine’s family gathered around her during her last ten days and shared and made many more memories. While celebrating an early Thanksgiving this past weekend, Lorraine blessed her family by giving the prayer before the meal, and then shared “This is my utopia.”
Lorraine will be deeply missed by her five children:Dr. Steven (Coral) Headrick, Ponte Vedra, FL, DeVere (Barb) Headrick, Oswego, IL, Corinne (Art) Moynihan, Bloomington, IN, Rhonda (Ron) Harris, Charlotte, NC and Coleen (Rod) Schaefer, Phoenix, AZ; two sisters, Berdyene Bowen, Egan, SD, Frances Parsley, Pipestone, MN; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, seven step-children, 18 step-grandchildren, 25 step-great grandchildren, two step-great great grandchildren; several loving nieces and nephews, and three special “fur-babies”.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Louise; husband, Ken; granddaughter, Jennifer; and nephew, Brad.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, December 1, 2019, 2 pm at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 4930 E. Greenway Road, Scottsdale, AZ, 85254. Please sign the online guestbook at www.pontevedravalley.com
