Karl Ray Lee, 77, of Colman, S.D., passed away Monday, September 18, 2017, at Avera Flandreau Hospital in Flandreau, S.D.

Karl was born July 2, 1940, at Colman, S.D., to Freeland and Lida Lucille (Pickard) Lee.

He graduated from Colman High School in 1958. He attended Nettleton College for tax preparation. Karl married June Guild on May 13, 1960, in Dell Rapids. They lived in Colman where Karl worked at Farmers Co-op Lumber Yard.

He eventually purchased and co-owned the lumber yard until 1983. He then worked as a general contractor while continuing to be a tax preparer.

Karl was a member of the Sioux Falls First Assembly of God, served as a deacon and was head of the Altar Prayer Team. He had been on the Colman Volunteer Fire Department and had served as fire chief. He enjoyed the outdoors and working around his acreage.

Karl’s greatest passion was his love for Christ Jesus, only followed by love for his family and friends, for whom he always had a hug. He cared deeply for all those around him.

Karl is survived by his wife June; three children, Beth (David) Robinson, Broken Arrow, Okla.; Steven (Janice), Sioux Falls; Renee (David) Giese, Colman; five grandsons, Nate (Alyssa) Trevor (Izzi), Tyler (Brandie), Josh, Samuel; three great-grandchildren, Brynlee, Braydin, Zayne; and three siblings, Donald (Donna) Lee, Amaranth, Manitoba, Canada; Merle Lee, Raymore, Mo.; and Grace (Fred) Burtelson, Harvard, Ill. Karl was preceded in death by his parents, and four siblings, Marvin, Leroy, Lila and Robert.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 21, 2017, at Sioux Falls First Assembly of God, with burial in the Colman Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church with a 7 p.m. prayer service.
