Harold F. Bauer, age 91, of Flandreau, SD, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Avera Flandreau Hospital.
Harold was born November 2, 1926 in Jerauld County, Wessington Springs, SD, to William C. and Ella (Senner) Bauer. He received his education at Crow Lake and rural Ward, SD. Harold was baptized in rural Wessington Springs and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran in Ward, SD. He entered the U.S. Army in April 1945 and served during WWII until his discharge December 6, 1946. Harold married Phyllis Lange on February 26, 1949 at Trosky, MN. They farmed by Ward for 41 years and moved into Flandreau in November 1989. Harold loved riding his scooter and took great pride in everything he owned. He kept his scooter, vehicles and tools waxed and polished at all times. Harold was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Flandreau.
Harold is survived by his wife: Phyllis; eight children: Steve (Jody) Bauer, Brookings, Bruce (Marci) Bauer, Deb (Rick) Johnson, Renae Scofield, Tammie (David) Kneebone, all of Flandreau, Tim Bauer, Spearfish, Julie (Bob Duerfeldt) Schweigert, Gregory and Mindy (Dennis) Faber, Sioux Falls; 24 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; one step-great-great grandson; and one brother Clarence (Darlene) Bauer, Brookings.
Harold was preceded in death by two daughters, Cheryl Ann Bauer and Grace Bauer Albers, granddaughter Heidi Albers, great granddaughter Tori Pulscher, son-in-law Steve Scofield, parents, William and Ella Bauer, and four siblings, Donald Bauer, Delbert Bauer, Bernice Wescott and Herbert Bauer.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Flandreau, with burial at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Ward. Visitation is from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday at the church with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service. www.skrochfc.com
