Hawks fall to Howard, E-LB

HOWARD – The Hawks fell to the undefeated Howard Tigers on Monday, Jan. 6, 67-29.
“We started out playing right with them and then Dalton (Voelker) got hurt,” said Head Coach Scott Hemmer. He added that Howard was hot in scoring and the Hawks had a difficult time making their shots.
COLMAN – Matthew Nibbe and Grant DeRuyter led Elkton-Lake Benton past the Hawks 62-41 in a Dakota Valley Conference boys’ basketball clash Friday.
Nibbe posted a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds.
DeRuyter had 19 points and nine boards.
The Elks were ahead 19-12 after a quarter, 32-25 at halftime and 47-32 through three.
Colman-Egan, which was playing without Dalton Voelker, got a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds from Nate Tolley. Chase Hemmer contributed 13 points, five boards, four steals and three assists.
