HURON – The Hawks tallied 142 team points to out-distance second-place James Valley Christian (112) for the team title at the Sunshine Bible Academy Invitational on Tuesday at Tiger Stadium.

Boys

Kade Groos, Walker Olivier and Malik Poppenga each won a pair of individual events as the Hawks posted nine victories overall.

Devin Lohr, Kade Groos, Bodee Groos and Olivier were tops in the 4x100-meter relay in a meet-record time of 45.1 seconds. The quartet also won the 4x200 in 1:34.9.

Kade Groos placed first in both the 200 (24.1) and 400 (53.6).

Olivier swept the hurdles events, prevailing in the 110 (15.9) and 300 (42.2).

Poppenga had a big day in the field, winning the triple jump (40 feet, 11 inches) and long jump (19-1 3/4) while taking second in the high jump (5-7).

Lohr won the 100 (11.8) and was runner-up in the 200 (24.7).

Alec Landis posted Colman-Egan’s other top-three finish, placing third in the shot put (38-11 1/4). He was fifth in the discus (101-9).

Bodee Groos was fourth in the 300 hurdles in 46.7.

Taking fifth were Chase Hemmer in the 800 (2:24.7), Bailey Voelker in the shot put (37-4 1/4) and Landis

Joe Bennett, Sam McKay, Dalton Voelker and Shandon Anderson teamed to take fifth in the medley relay with a 4:31.8 clocking.

McKay was sixth in the shot put (36-4).

Bodee Groos, McKay, Poppenga and Eli Bowen were seventh in the 4x400 in 4:01. Hemmer, Riley Blissmer, Bowen and Anderson matched that finish in the 4x800 with a time of 10:14.4.

Bennett was eighth in the 100 (12.6) and Zach Anderson was eighth in the discus (96-11).

Girls

Potter County won the team championship with 101 points, while James Valley Christian (98) was second, De Smet (94) third and Colman-Egan (93) fourth.

The Hawks won five events, including a pair of relays.

Katie Hannasch, Mackenzie Hemmer, Elizabeth Moore and Olivia Baumberger took the 4x100 in 55.2 seconds.

Haleigh Nicol, Hannasch, Moore and Baumberger won the 4x200 with a 1:57.5 clocking.

Hemmer was victorious in the 100-meter dash in 13.4 seconds.

Baumberger won the long jump with a mark of 14-7 1/2 and Nicol placed first in the triple jump at 32-1 3/4.

Hemmer took fourth in the 300 hurdles (54.3).

Nicol, Burgin Groos, Hannasch and Madison Voelker were fifth in the medley relay in 5:24.4.

Jordan Wittrock placed fifth in the 1,600 (6:20.6) and triple jump (25-3), while taking sixth in the 3,200 (14:49.9).

Moore ended up fifth in the high jump (4-6).

Taking sixth were Hannasch in the 100 (13.9) and Nicol in the long jump (13-6 3/4).

Voelker, Braiden Westley, Hailey Larson and Wittrock were sixth in the 4x800 in 11:52.8.

Westley was seventh in the 300 hurdles (57.3) and Grace Anderson matched her placing in the shot put (29-4).

Hemmer, Westley, Baumberger and Moore finished seventh in the 4x400 in 4:49.7.

Taking eighth were Larson in the 3,200 (16:10.3), Groos in the shot put (29-2 1/4) and Voelker in the high jump (4-4).
