Team Strengths & Weaknesses: We have a good number of experienced athletes returning and they want to continue to push and succeed. We are going to continue to be strong in our sprints. Our weakness this year is that we don’t have the depth to fill as many events as we have in the past.

Softball
Stormy Mette- 2 year Head Coach
Assistant: Kirsten Taggart, Cheryl Angle

2023 Recap: 10-13

Top Athletes Lost: Abby Rhode, Ava Mousel and Kadance Landis

Key Returning Athletes: Lanie Mousel – multiple career homeruns, and strikeouts; Kaitlyn Taggart – one career homerun, numerous assists & putouts; Savannah Schmidt – top assister for putouts, top batting/scoring average; Karissa Williams – top defensive outfielder, incredible team spirit, and knowledge of the sport

Team strengths & weaknesses:
Strengths – making plays on the defensive side; team communication; player chemistry;
Weaknesses – seeing, identifying, and batting specialty pitches (curves, changes, rise, drop, etc.); we have 2 very young pitchers, who we are developing. They will likely see some high intensity situations, and I’m looking forward to guiding them to their full career potential, and seeing them reach their individual and team goals.

Coaches Comments: I am really looking forward to playing more JV games to help develop some of our younger players. I feel that there is no better way for athletes to learn than to play live games, and get involved in live game action. I am overall very excited and optimistic for the coming season.

Billy Stitz- 7th year Head Coach
Assistant: Bodee Groos

2023 Recap: 4 regular season individual champions and 1 Region Champion. We had a stretch of 6 straight meet victories from our Boys team, concluding with our first Region Title as a team in almost 10 years. 42 Individual medals, including 2 Medals at the State Tournament, 9th place from Taylor Kriech and 11th place from Berkley Groos.

Top Athletes Lost: Berkley Groos, Camden Schmidt, Sawyer Uhing

Key Returning Athletes: Taylor Kriech (11th Grade), 3 time State Golfer, Finishing in 9th as a sophomore a year ago. Also won Regions in 2022 and placed 2nd behind teammate Camden Schmidt in 2023. He has 6 tournament victories and 17 top 5 finishes in his 3 years as a varsity golfer. Jack Whitehouse (11th Grade). State golfer a year ago as a sophomore. He has medaled in 4 events in his two fill season as a varsity golfer. Savanna Schmidt (Junior) medaled twice a year ago as a sophomore; this will be her third year as a varsity golfer.

Team Strengths & Weaknesses: We are really good at the top. We have 9 years of varsity experience between 3 golfers, but from there, we will be extremely young, and inexperienced. The good spring weather has given all High School Golfers a chance to get some individual practice in before the season has started which they do not typically get with Spring Golf. So I’m excited to hit the ground running.
