Vs. Colman
In a close game throughout, the Cardinals plated three runs in each of the 5th and 6th innings which proved to be the difference in the 9-7 Flandreau win over the other local team, the Colman A’s.
After Drew Weber hit his post wedding wall with one out in the 5th inning, Zach Weber came in for the win with 2.2 innings of relief. He allowed two runs, one earned, and struck out five A’s batters without issuing a walk. Drew Weber surrendered four runs, three of which were earned, struck out two, and walked five. Bret Severtson pitched the final two frames to earn the save, allowing no runs and striking out two.
Ben Ihrke and Jake Patterson led the way offensively for the home team with three hits apiece and both scoring two times. One of Irhke’s hits was a double to go along with a hit by pitch and RBI. Behind the first and second batters production in the lineup, the three, four, and five hitters for Flandreau all had two hit games with a double each. Keith Cutler scored twice off of his hits, Aiden Ladd scored twice and drove in two, and Bret Severtson drove in a trio of runs. Jordan Gesling had the other hit with Derick Veldkamp’s production coming from a hit by pitch, two walks, and a run batted in.
