Nine-run seventh inning dooms Flandreau

FLANDREAU – Holding a five-run lead after six innings the Flandreau high school baseball team was in good shape needing to record just three outs to pick up a win on Sunday afternoon in Flandreau.
However, the visitors from Tri-Valley scored nine runs in the top of the seventh inning, aided by five Flandreau errors, to pick up a comeback 13-9 win.
Of the 13 runs scored by Tri-Valley only two were earned with the other 11 runs scoring as the result of inning-extending errors.
Kolby Peters drove in three runs and finished with two of Flandreau’s seven total hits. He also drew a pair of walks.

Dylan Christenson also had two hits and recorded two RBI and scored two runs.
Tash Lunday tripled and drove in one run and scored two more, while Logan Voelker and Tristan Peters each singled.
Flandreau swiped seven bases in the game as Peters had two and Voelker, Lane Johanson, Dylan Christenson, Ethan Hoffman, and Tanner Christenson recorded one theft each.
Lunday was saddled with the loss. He allowed nine runs (two earned) while scattering just five hits, walking four, and striking out six.
Peters recorded the final three outs for Flandreau, giving up a pair of hits and walking two while allowing four runs (one earned) with one strikeout.
Flandreau (4-7) is at West Central tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. before beginning regional play on May 23.
