IROQUOIS – The Sharks outlasted the Hawks in an overtime thriller, picking up a victory in Iroquois on Friday night.
The game started quietly as the Hawks and Sharks spent the first three quarters deadlocked in a scoreless tie. Jack Mousel put the Hawks on the board with a one-yard touchdown pass to Ben Zwart with 8:49 left in the fourth quarter before Jake Larson’s one-yard touchdown run with 3:11 remaining to tie the game at 6-6.

That sent the game to overtime where Voelker gave the Hawks the lead with a 10-yard touchdown run. Haydon Shurson’s two-yard touchdown run tied the game at 12 before Voelker ran for his second touchdown of the night, giving the Hawks an 18-12 lead.
With the game on the line, Josh McMasters found Riley Greene for a six-yard touchdown to tie the game up before a two-point conversion run by Larson gave the Sharks the victory.
The win was a gritty one for the Sharks, who were outgained by the Hawks 323-216 on the night. Voelker posted a game-high 190 rushing yards for Colman-Egan while Larson ran for 91 yards and Shurson ran for 84 yards.
The Sharks finish the regular season with a 1-6 record while the Hawks fell to 0-6. The Hawks will travel to Platte-Geddes on Friday night.
