Local high school volleyball and football players named to All-Register Team

Daniela Lee and Berkeley Groos from Colman-Egan and Abby Schoeberl of Flandreau were named to the Brookings Register’s All-Register 2022 volleyball team and Ethan Hoffman of Flandreau was named to the All-Register football team.
Daniela Lee, a junior outside hitter, topped the Hawks with 268 kills, 66 blocks and 33 aces to lead her team to the State Class B Tournament this season and also finished second on the team with 481 digs. For her career, she has 459 kills, 99 blocks, 938 digs and 56 aces with a 96.4 serving percentage.
“Daniela is an all-around volleyball player who excels in any position,” C-E head coach Abigail Dockter said. “She is very athletic and versatile, allowing her to play in any position and be successful. Daniela is our go-to offensive threat when we need it and someone we can rely on to send an aggressive attack over no matter the situation. She is a 4.0 student who is very competitive both in the classroom and on the court.”
Berkeley Groos, also a senior outside hitter, finished the season with 179 kills, 27 blocks, a team-high 536 digs and 19 aces. She has 186 kills, 27 blocks, 948 digs and 45 aces with a 93.7 serving percentage during her career.

“Berkeley is an all-around player who played in the front row for the first time for us this season,” Dockter said. “She was our leader out on the court who worked hard no matter the situation. She was our most reliable player in coverage. She is a very coachable and is good at adjusting against any team. She is a 4.0 student who works very hard in the classroom, which carries over onto the court.
Abby Schoeberl, a Flier junior, had 40 aces, 603 assists, 78 kills, and 247 digs for the Fliers this season. She recorded her 1,000th career assist against Clark/Willow Lake.
Fourteen players are selected to include Rachael Krog, Tevan Erickson and Kylie Ramlo from Elkton/Lake Benton; Julia Trygstad of Oldham Ramona-Rutland; Sadie Johnson and Kenzy Beare of Estelline/Hendricks; Ashley Bjerke and Adison Renkly of Sioux Valley; Gracie Adamson of Brookings; Natalie Burns of Arlington and Ellie Koenig of Deubrook Area.
From Flandreau, senior running back and defensive back, Ethan Hoffman, was the lone selection.
Hoffman led the Fliers in rushing with 390 yards and two touchdowns on 98 carries. He also had 352 yards and three touchdowns on 33 receptions.
On defense, Hoffman had 92 total tackles (43 solo and 49 assisted). He had seven tackles for a loss, three interceptions and 13 passes defended.
Coach Josh Edlund: “Ethan was an awesome running back and safety for us. He led our team in rushing, receiving, tackles, and pass deflections this year. He is a high GPA kid, achieved Academic All-State and he loves football. He works extremely hard and never misses a day in the weight room.”
The other 10 area players on the All-Register team are Ryan Krog, Tanner Stein and Carson Griffith from Elkton/Lake Benton; Jaxton Eck, Caleb Loehr and Tyson Brandt of Brookings; Aidan Brower and Boden Schiller of Sioux Valley; Colin Bauman of Estelline/Hendricks and Joseph McAninch of Deubrook Area.
