DE SMET – Deubrook Area’s Josie Olsen earned medalist honors as the Dolphins had three runners place in the top five to cruise to the 2017 Dakota Valley Conference team title on Wednesday at the Kingsbury County Country Club.
Lake Preston’s Rhett McMasters crossed in 17 mintues, 56.02 seconds to win the boys’ race while Oldham-Ramona/Rutland claimed the team title by edging Dell Rapids St. Mary, 24-25.
Olsen ran the 5K in 19:55.24 and behind her was teammate Andrea Vandermeer in second in 20:39.43, followed by Colman-Egan’s Reese Luze (20:58.21), Dell Rapids St. Mary’s Ella Heinitz (21:23.93) and the Dolphins’ Shaylee DeBeer (21:57.90) as Deubrook Area totaled seven points. De Smet was second with 24 points.
Ava Mousel placed 17th in 24:08.11 and Jordan Wittrock was 21st in 25:08.80 as the Hawks placed third as a team with 27 points.
Also running for Colman-Egan were Allison Olson (30:45.71), Nevaeh Smith (30:55.83) and Olivia Moore (31:34.46).
In the boys’ division, Colman-Egan’s Riley Blissmer placed 39th in 23:34.81. Elkton-Lake Benton’s Mile Harming took second in the boys’ race, followed by DRSM’s Connor Libis and Jacob Vogel, and ORR’s Connor Spilde.
The Raiders’ Jack Olson and Justin Casanova placed ninth and 10th, respectively, to round out ORR’s team score.
Thomas Eining placed 18th overall for DRSM’s last scoring runner.
