Hawk boys take second at both Freeman and Tom Main Invitationals

FREEMAN – Viborg-Hurley totaled 128.5 points to top runner-up Colman-Egan (95.5) for the boys’ team title at the Flyer Invitational on Thursday. Host Freeman (88) took third.

Walker Olivier led the Hawks with three individual victories.

He won the 110-meter hurdles in a meet-record time of 14.78 seconds. Olivier also placed first in the 100-(10.99) and 200-meter (23.94) dashes.

Cole Kriech prevailed in the 400 with a 52.86-second clocking. He took fifth in the 200 (24.5) and tied for fifth in the 100 (11.77).

Malik Poppenga notched a trio of third-place showings – high jump (5 feet, 3 inches), long jump (19-3) and triple jump (38-10 1/2). He added a fourth-place showing in the 800 (2:17.62).

Devin Lohr was third in both the 100 (11.57) and 200 (24.4).

Kelby Voelker took fifth in the 400 (54.1) and Zach Anderson finished sixth in the discus (113-7 1/2). Bodee Groos ended up eighth in the 110 hurdles (20.22).

Colman-Egan logged seventhplace finishes in the 4x100 (49.19) and 4x800 (10:24.24), while taking eighth in the 4x400 (4:16.79).

Girls

Burgin Groos led the Hawks with a fourth-place finish in the discus with a mark of 91-2.

Mackenzie Hemmer was fifth in the 100-meter hurdles in 18.49 and eight in the 300-meter hurdles with a 55.03 clocking. Haleigh Nicol took sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 30-8.

Elizabeth Moore crossed in eighth in the 200 (29.66) and matched that finish in the high jump (4-6). Jordan Wittrock was eighth in the 1,600 (6:25.24).

Colman-Egan was third in the 4x100 (54.73), fifth in the 4x800 (12:07.46), and seventh in both the 4x200 (1:58.84) and medley (5:09.82) relays.

CHESTER – Viborg-Hurley won boys’ team title with 111 points, while Colman-Egan and the host Flyers tied for second with 99 at the Tom Main Invitational on Saturday.

Boys

The Hawks’ Walker Olivier placed first in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.5 seconds and second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.3.

Kade Groos found the winner’s circle in the 200 with a 23.3 clocking.

Devin Lohr, Bodee Groos, Cole Kriech and Kade Groos took the 4x200-meter relay in 1:34.1. Lohr, Olivier, Kade Groos and Kriech won the medley relay in 3:$5.5.

Malik Poppenga took second in both the long jump (18-7) and triple jump (39-8). He was six in the high jump (5-7).

Lohr was third in the 200 in 23.9.

Kade Groos, Poppenga, Olivier and Kriech teamed for a runner-up finish in the 4x400 in 3:38.29.

Bodee Groos ended up fifth in the 200 (24.6) and sixth in the 300 hurdles (46.8).

Chase Hemmer placed fifth in the 800 (2:24.7) and Sam McKay wound up eighth in the discus (108-11).

Lohr, Hemmer, Joe Bennett and Bodee Groos were sixth in the 4x100 (47.5).

Hemmer, Sheldon Anderson, Riley Blissmer and Shandon Anderson took sixth in the 4x800 (10:07.1).

Girls

Chester totaled 112 points, while Viborg-Hurley (87) was second and Colman-Egan (73.5) third.

The Hawks’ Olivia Baumberger won the long jump with a mark of 15 feet, 4 inches.

Haleigh Nicol was tops in the triple jump at 31-10 3/4. Teammate Sami Lebert was runner-up with a distance of 31-5 1/2 while adding a fifth-place showing in the long jump (13-8 3/4).

Mackenzie Hemmer placed third in the 300-meter hurdles in 51.1 seconds. She was also fourth in the high jump (4-8) and sixth in the 100 hurdles (19.6).

Elizabeth Moore was fourth in the long jump (4-8). Braiden Westley took fifth in the 300 hurdles (53.0) and sixth in the 800 (2:47.6). Taking seventh were Madison Voelker in the 400 (1:11.2), Jordan Wittrock in the 1,600 (6:18.7) and Burgin Groos in the discus (94-1).

Nicol, Katie Hannasch, Moore and Baumberger tied for fourth in the 4x200 in 1:56.1.

Moore, Baumberger, Nicol and Westley finished fifth in the 4x400 (4:38.2). Hannasch, Groos, Wittrock and Voelker added an eighth-place showing in the medley relay (5:09.8).
