Flandreau - 4 Hartford-Humboldt Wood Ducks - 2
In a Thursday night pitcher’s duel, the Cardinals were able to push across three runs in the eighth inning off of H/H free bases and miscues.

Drew Weber was the starting pitcher for Flandreau and threw seven great innings, allowing one hit, one unearned run, and striking out four. Weber earned the win with Aiden Ladd coming in for the save for the final two innings and allowing a run and striking out one Wood Duck batter.
A quiet night offensively for Flandreau saw only Ladd, Dallas Schneiderman, and Nate Kneebone scatter one single apiece. Kneebone and Jordan Gesling each had an RBI. All knotted up heading into the eighth inning, Dan Gile lead off with a long 13 pitch walk, followed by a Grant Hieb walk to put runners on first and second with nobody out. The Wood Ducks weren’t able to handle Bret Severtson’s sacrifice bunt and a throwing error allowed Gile to score and put Hieb and Severtson on second and third. A wild pitch, infield single, and two walks allowed both runners to score and finish Flandreau’s threat.

Flandreau - 12 Madison - 9
Sunday’s game was not short on offense with the Cardinals scoring in six of the nine innings off of 18 hits.
Jordan Gesling’s 4.2 inning start on the mound began with trouble in the first inning, followed by three quick frames, before pitching into a fifth inning jam. He allowed seven runs and struck out eight Bronco batter’s. Bret Severtson earned with win in relief after pitching 4.1 innings, striking out three, and allowing two unearned runs.
Gesling lead the offensive attack with four hits, including a double, a run, and driving in two. Aiden Ladd and Nate Kneebone had three hits apiece with Severtson and Keith Cutler both having two. Ladd drove in three Cardinal base runners and Grant Hieb had a hit, two walks, and scored two runs.
Flandreau hosts the Dell Rapids Mudcats on Thursday for a 7:30 game to finish off the first half of their schedule before playing Dell Rapids PBR on Sunday. Location for Sunday’s game is still TBD.
