Flier girls eighth in State A Cross Country

SIOUX FALLS – The Flandreau girls took eighth and the boys were 12th in the Class A State Cross Country Meet on Saturday at Yankton Trail Park.

Girls
The Fliers totaled 143 points in eighth.
Custer won with 50 points and Hill City (63) was second.
Elizabeth Hursey led Flandreau, posting a time of 20 minutes, 20.22 seconds to finished 27th. She was less than 5 seconds from medaling.

Reese Olinger took 39th in 20:50.15. Madeline Hursey (21:00.47) was 47th and Hannah Parsley (21:39.14) ended up 72nd to complete the team tally.
Also for the Fliers, Elizabeth Pavlis (22:27.49) finished 107th and Cassidy Keith (23:07.28) was 117th.
Chamberlain’s Ella Byers was medalist in 18:22.78.

Boys
The Fliers ended up with 191 team points to take 12th.
Custer won the team title at 60 and Vermillion (66) placed second.
Flandreau’s David Allen took 50th with an 18:09.39 clocking.
Austin Kulm crossed in 18:45.39 to take 74th, while Gabe Hobbie took 77th in 18:51.85. Liam Streitz (19:10.49) rounded out the team score, finishing 91st.
Also for the Fliers, Samuel Gassman (19:52.23) and Lars Dailey (19:55.52) were 113th and 114th, respectively.
Beresford’s Alec Atwood placed first with a time of 16:07.84.
