Flier girls advance to SoDak 16 from regions

FLORENCE – Flandreau controlled the second half en route to a 52-46 victory over Florence/Henry in a Region 2A girls’ basketball semifinal last Thursday, Feb. 25.
Flandreau led 20-14 after a quarter but the Falcons were up 30-27 at halftime.
Tied at 41-all after three, the Fliers held an 11-5 scoring advantage in the final stanza to over take the number 2 seeded Falcons.
Maria Parsley scored 14 points.
Claire Sheppard and Lizzy Pavlis both added 13 markers, Lily Klein seven, Cassidy Keith three and Bella Pavlis two.
F/H got 14 points from Brooklyn Brandriet, 12 by Caylyn Kelly and 10 from Trinity Watson.


First round hosted Deuel
FLANDREAU – The Fliers defeated Deuel 69-35 in a Region 2A girls’ basketball quarterfinal Tuesday, Feb. 23.
The Fliers were never in trouble as they held a comfortable lead throughout the game.
Flier freshman Claire Sheppard dropped in a game-high 21 points.
Lizzie Pavlis posted a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Lily Klein scored 13 points and came up with eight steals.
Teiloni Hardy chipped in with nine markers.
For the Cardinals (3-17), Harley Hemings had 12 points and Haley Winter 11.
Flandreau (14-6) advanced to the SoDak 16, to be played Thursday.  The Fliers are the number 12 seed and will play #5 seed Sioux Falls Christian  at Harrisburg HIgh School at approximately 7:45 p.m.
The winner advances to the State A tournament to be held March 11-13 in Watertown.
