Hamlin takes both from Flier ball teams

Girls

FLANDREAU – Lexi Wadsworth (16) and Brynn Alfson (14) combined for 30 points as Hamlin defeated the host Fliers 49-30 in a Lake Central Conference girls’ basketball game Tuesday night. The Chargers pulled away from a 12-10 lead after a quarter, moving ahead 26-14 at halftime and 44-23 through three.

Tishara Hardy paced Flandreau with 13 points and three steals.Kathy Parsley contributed six points, six rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals. Hannah Parsley added four points, three steals and a block.

In the JV game, the Chargers won by 11 over the Fliers, 43-32. Kennedy Headrick scored seven, Maddie Loehr, six and Libby Hursey and Cassidy Keith each had five points.

The Flier C team picked up a win, 34-16 behind 17 points from Cassidy Keith.

Boys

Conner Bawdon scored a game-high 19 points and Devan Weelbord added 17 as Hamlin edged the homestanding Fliers 64-61 in a Lake Central Conference boys’ basketball matchup Tuesday night.

John Roed had 13 points and Mitchell Noem 11.

Flandreau’s Dylan LeBrun posted a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds to go with six assists and three steals.

Connor LeBrun had 18 points and Andrew Julson 10. Nathan Kneebone tallied nine points and five boards.

Hamlin defeated the JV team, 31-19. Flandreau was led by Devon Burggraff's 6 points and Edu Povea's 5.

The Flier C team lost to Hamlin, 49-30.

Fliers too much for Beresford

FLANDREAU – The Fliers scored 18 points in both the second and third quarters to take control and cruise to a 63-46 Big East Conference girls’ basketball win over Beresford on Thursday.

Hannah Parsley posted a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds while dishing out three assists while Kathy Parsley contributed 16, six boards, five assists, five steals and four blocked shots.

“I was very happy with our defensive performance tonight,” said Head Coach Megan Severtson.

“It was nice to see some shots start falling for us this season. Over the course of the week, we have improved different parts of our game and that’s what you want to see as a coach this time of year.”

Flandreau improved to 2-1 and 2-0 in the conference.

The Fliers had a sweep of all three girls’ games as the JV team won, 37-18 over Beresford. Maddie Loehr scored 11, Cassidy Keith 8 and Kennedy Headrick, six. The C team won 41-14 over the Watchdogs as Mia Parsley socred 12 points and Macy Kneebone scored 10.
