Nicholas “Bernie” Spielmann, age 89, of Colman, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023, at the Madison Regional Health System in Madison, South Dakota.  Visitation will be from 5:00-6:30 P.M. on Wednesday, July 26th at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Colman, with a prayer service starting at 6:30 P.M. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 27th at the Colman Lutheran Church with burial to follow at the Colman Cemetery.
Bernie was born on January 27, 1934, at Hartford, South Dakota.  He graduated from Chester High School in 1952.  He honorably served his country from March of 1956 to December of 1957.
Bernie was employed at Sioux Valley Electric.  He began his employment in 1958, and retired after 40 years in 1998.  Bernie was a former member of the Elks, South Dakota Rural Electric Member Service Association, ESDREA Credit Union, and the Colman Cemetery Board.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; two daughters, LeAnn (Brent) Nelson and Jamie (Tom) LeBrun; grandchildren: Dusty (Jenny) LeBrun, Hailey (David) Krause, Tanner (Jenna) Nelson, Alex (Emily) Nelson; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings: Rita, Rose, Eileen, Elaine, Dick, Dan, and Theresa; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents Joe and Irene; three brothers, Jim, Joe and Tom; and two sisters, Marilyn and Marie.
