Jon G. Franka, 55, of Colman, passed away Saturday, February 4th, 2023 at Madison Regional Health System. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 10th, 2023 at Colman Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 9th, 2023 at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Colman.

Jon Franka was born Monday, September 11th, 1967 to Leo and Alma (Allen) Franka. He grew up in Colman where he received his education at Colman Public School, where he played football and was vice-president his senior year.

In 1997 Jon began work as a fork lift mechanic, then service supervisor at lift pro equipment. During this time Jon also served as a volunteer fireman for the Colman fire department, a position that was very important to him that he took on for 12 years. In 2002 Jon and Dawn Murray became parents to Paige his Pride and Joy, whom he loved dearly and enjoyed spending much of his time with.

 His hobbies included fishing and going to the sprint car races. He enjoyed spending a lot of time outdoors with his daughter and many friends with a cold beer. Another activity that he grew fond of was raising chickens and ducks with Paige, it was something that he wasn’t excited about but it grew on him.

Jon was a forever joker; he was well known for his jokes and pranks that he played on the people in his life.

He is survived by his daughter, Paige Franka, Colman, SD; brothers, Jay Franka, Wentworth, SD, and Wyatt Franka, Michigan; and nieces, Marah Franka, Shayla (Austin) Langley, Kaitlin (Jordan)Moos and many great nephews and nieces.

Jon was proceeded in death by his parents, Leo and Alma Franka, and brother Wayne Franka.

Jon’s family encourages guests to attend services in their favorite fishing and racing gear in Jon’s memory.
