Joan Jewett Stephen of El Cajon, California departed this life on September 8th, 2023, one day before her 86th birthday.
Joan was born on September 9, 1937, in rural Moody County. She attended Jones Country School and graduated from Flandreau High School in 1955. She moved to Sioux Falls with her family and worked in a bank until she moved to California with friends.
She lived and worked in various locations from San Francisco to San Diego. She married Roy Stephen, and they made their home in San Deigo.
She is preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Helen (Dougherty) Jewett, her husband Roy and one daughter Terri.
She is survived by one son, Mike Stephen; one daughter Lori (Mike) Delhotal; her granddaughter, Elsa and step grandchildren Aubry, Hana and Joey, who all called her “Gummy; one sister, Maxine; one brother, Jerry; three great granddaughters and many cousins and friends.
