Evelyn Biteler, 98, of Flandreau, SD, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023 at United Living Community in Brookings, SD.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Flandreau, SD with burial in Union Cemetery, Flandreau. Visitation was held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Monday December 18, 2023 also at Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Evelyn was born on October 11, 1925 in Flandreau, SD to Adolf and Mary (Peterson) Beyer. She attended Tidd Country School and graduated from Egan High School in 1943. She then went on to Nettleton Business College for one semester in the fall of 1943.
In January of 1944 she began working at the ASC office in Flandreau until marrying Doyal Biteler on June 26, 1946. They would then go on to farm northwest of Flandreau until they retired in 1994. Doyal passed away in 2011, but Evelyn continued living on the farm taking care of her flowers, maintaining, and mowing her large yard. She also loved baking and always had a sweet treat for anyone who stopped by for a visit.
In 2018 she moved to Edgewood Assisted Living. In 2023 she lost her vision and in October moved to United Living Community in Brookings, SD until her passing.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Kenneth Biteler, DeSmet, SD, and daughter, Arlys (Ron) Janssen, Brookings, SD; sister, Verla May Beyer, Flandreau, SD; grandchildren, Lynell Tande, DeSmet, SD, Tara (Craig) Kuck, Buxton, ND, Shane Janssen (Sentrica Kellogg), Spearfish, SD; great-grandchildren, Austin (Karlie) Gehm, DeSmet, SD, Jordynn Gehm, Pierre, SD, Katelyn Gehm, Sioux Falls, SD, and Adam Diedrich, Grand Forks, ND, Tyra Johnson and Mischa Janssen, Brookings, SD; step-grandchildren, Callie (Joey) Hanson and Shannon Kuck, East Grand Forks, MN; great great-grandchildren, Aldrich Dedrich; step-great great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Kora, and Karter Hanson; honorary daughter, Jane Pesall, Brookings, SD; and many nieces and nephews.  
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyal, brother, Arthur Beyer, sisters, Delores Snuggerud, and Phyllis Ailts, and daughter-in-law, Ila Biteler.
