Delores Stapleton, 88, of Parker, South Dakota, died Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.  Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 20, 2024, at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory, Sioux Falls.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Hills of Rest Cemetery in Sioux Falls followed by a time of coffee and continued visiting.  A recording of the service and online guestbook will be available at www.georgeboom.com

Delores Mae Hill was born August 6, 1935, at home in Flandreau, South Dakota to Malinda (Meyer) Hill and Leonard Hill.  She grew up in Flandreau and attended school there, graduating with the class of 1953.  She then attended business college for a year in Pueblo, Colorado.  

Upon moving back to Sioux Falls she worked as a bookkeeper and bank teller where she met the love of her life.  She was united in marriage to James Stapleton on January 15, 1956.  She worked alongside Jim at Sioux Falls Petroleum and on the family farm until Jim’s passing in 1979.

She married Gary Schriever in January of 1984.  She moved to Keystone where they managed a hotel, then moved to Montana and worked on a ranch.  Finally, she moved back to the farm outside of Parker.  Delores was a very active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Parker.  She was an avid reader, liked to play the piano, and was a wonderful seamstress.  She loved spending time working outside, gardening, and canning.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Bob (Patty) Stapleton of La Vista, NE, Gene (Pam) Stapleton of Parker, SD, Daniel Stapleton of Wentworth, and Patrick (Jennifer) Stapleton of Sioux Falls; nine grandchildren, Jamie (Angie) Stapleton, Robbie (Katie) Stapleton, Jonnie Stapleton, Andy Stapleton, Michael (Jena) Stapleton, Ashley (Chris) DeMars, Tom (Katie Schindler) Stapleton, Abby Stapleton, and Katie Stapleton; and eight great grandchildren, Mav, Koko, James, Joel, Jude, Mia, Julia, and Parker.

She preceded in death by her husband, James Stapleton; parents, Malinda Kisling and Leonard Hill; siblings, Madonna Reynolds and Ernest Hill; and great grandchildren, Jack Stapleton and Kastin Stapleton.
