Community pride soars during Fliers’ Homecoming Week

Posted

Flandreau Public Schools capped off Homecoming week with a standing-room-only community rally, a tailgate event, and another win for the Fliers, 47-0, pushing the team to a perfect record as they head into week four of the prep football season.
In his third year as Varsity Head Coach, Josh Edlund stayed focused during this past Friday’s festivities, but expressed his gratitude for the team and the effort they are putting in, his assistant coaches for what they’re bringing to the program, and the community for their continued support and growing excitement around the team and the school.
“The hype is better than it’s been the past couple of years,” Edlund said, as the rally wrapped up with a gym packed full of fans and students singing the school song and cheering for the Fliers.

It’s been years that the Fliers have had a winning season.
“All of this says a lot about the coaching staff that we have, the kids that have come out, the excitement they bring, and the energy from the fans,” Edlund said.
“It’s a pretty neat thing.”
Next week, the Fliers face McCook Central/Montrose in Salem before returning home on October 4th to take on Sioux Valley.
