Suspects not identified in car break ins

Posted

A number of car break ins has the Flandreau Police Department warning residents to lock their vehicles and remove anything of value from them.
At least five vehicles were entered between the night of July 8 and the morning of July 9 at various places in town, said Chief Zach Weber. With the exception of a jar of change taken from one car, nothing else was stolen, he said.

Weber said it appears that two males were doing the break ins, based on a surveillance camera at one residence. But so far, police have not been able to identify the suspects, he said. “We really don’t have any leads.”
There is no indication what the suspects were looking for, and it is possible they are local people, he said.
Weber said in each case, the vehicle was outside and presumably unlocked. Owners could tell that someone had gone through their cars, he said.
If anyone saw anything or knows of someone who may be suspect in this case, Weber asks that they call the police department.
