Flandreau native Karen Schreier was recently in Washington, DC and walked to the White House to see the Christmas trees one evening. In addition to the national tree, each state has one small decorated tree. “Much to my delight,” said Schreier, “the South Dakota tree was decorated with ornaments from the Flandreau Indian School.”
