Flandreau’s VFW Auxiliary has disbanded because the number of active members has fallen to a handful out of a membership of 29. As a result, the group divided up its treasury in donations to veteran’s hospitals, including $500 to Sturgis and Hot Springs facilities, and $500 plus $500 worth of socks and undergarments for patients at the Royal C. Johnson Veteran’s Administration Hospital. Long-time members Beverly Wakeman, Lavonne Jepsen, Patty Clark, Karen Lang and Dianne Staggs delivered the donations to the Sioux Falls VA on July 9.
