“Blue Christmas Service” to be held Dec. 23

A time of rememberance and healing

Posted

A special service will be held at the St Mary’s/Our Blessed Redeemer Episcopal Church in Flandreau on Saturday, December 23.
A “Remembrance, Blue Christmas” service begins at 5:30 pm.
The question being asked is: What is a Blue Christmas Service? To explain, normally this time of year is thought of as a time of joy, happiness, and celebration. It is time spent with loved ones.
However, this is not the case for everyone, there may be some who are experiencing their first Christmas without a loved one. There may be some who are facing a life-threatening illness this year.

There are others who are dealing with other things that are taking away the joy of the season.
The Blue Christmas Service is here to offer healing and hope. The Blue Christmas Service will help you find light in the darkness.
Some churches call this service the “Longest Night Service” and it is held on the night of winter solstice, Dec. 21, the longest night of year. The day filled with the most darkness.
Regardless of the name of the service or the date, the intention is still the same-- to offer healing and hope.
If you are free and feel that need of God’s healing hand upon you, please join.
Also on Sunday, December 24, a Christmas Eve service will be held at 5:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s/Our Blessed Redeemer.
Everyone is welcome to attend either or both services.
