The Flandreau Cardinals snatched the lead late in their season opening 4-3 victory over the Sioux Falls Brewers on Saturday, May 11. The game was tied at three in the bottom of the sixth when the Cardnials’ Calvin Hegg lined out, scoring one run.
LENNOX – In their inaugural baseball game, the Flandreau Blue Teal Amateur baseball team won 7-6 over against Lennox Chancellor Worthing Dirt Devils in a game played on the road.
The Flandreau Flier Booster Club has had a very active year, supporting local athletes from grades second through seniors in every sporting season. The group will hold their annual meeting next Wednesday, May 20, at 5:30 p.m. in the Moody County Resource Center. Everyone who supports Flier athletics is encouraged to attend the meeting.
Flandreau’s Jr. High Golf team participated in the Big East Conference meet last Tuesday, May 7.
Colman-Egan junior Jase Mousel performed his best by leaps and bounds last week as he broke two school records – one in long jump and then two days later, one in triple jump. He first leaped 21’1” to erase a 33 year old long jump record at the Alcester-Hudson Invitational track meet on May 7.
MADISON – The Sioux Valley and Flandreau girls’ golf teams competed in the Madison Invitational at the Madison Country Club on Thursday.
Flandreau’s Track and Field teams both competed in the Lake Central and Big East Conference meets last May 7 and May 9. According to Coach Owen Parsley, even with two meets in three days, the teams “embraced their opportunities and batted marvelously” as they set 19 personal records at the LCC and 28 at the BEC.

RENNER – Flandreau golfers, Madison Bushkofsky and Alfie Henderson, took both medallist honors at the Big East Conference Golf Meet while the Flier boys will have their name etched on the BEC championship plaque for the first time.

VOLGA – Sioux Valley improved to 8-1 on the season after the Cossacks swept a doubleheader against Colman-Egan on Tuesday, April 23. The Cossacks won game one 13-5 and followed that with a 6-3 victory in game two. Colman-Egan dropped to a season record of 2-5.
