Moody County saw four new cases of COVID-19 in the last week at a time when the number of residents being vaccinated is growing. State data as of Monday shows there have been 608 positive cases in the county, and seven still are active. Of those cases, 585 people have recovered while 16 have died and 45 have had to be hospitalized. Another 1,709 tests have turned out negative. In Moody County, 807 doses of the vaccine have been given, with 299 people receiving one shot and 254 people getting two, to complete the process. That brings the total number of people who have received at least one dose to 553. The number doesn’t reflect shots that have been given by the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe or those receive at the Veteran’s Administration because both clinics get their vaccinations from the federal government, instead of the state. As of Monday, one elementary staff member at the Flandreau schools had tested positive, while no students were listed as positive.
