Two Flandreau educators have been chosen to work on school and family partnerships.
Jenn Reiff and Maria Ivers are part of a group of South Dakota school staff members to participate in the Family Engagement Champions program. Reiff is an English Language Learner teacher, and Ivers works with students needing occupational therapy.
The teachers will learn about the power of school and family partnerships, reflect on current practices in their school and create activities that will help with school, family and community engagement.
Other school districts involved in the five-month study group are Tri Valley, Iroquois, Mobridge-Pollock, Dakota Valley, Pierre, Sioux Falls, Sturgis, Timber Lake, Watertown, Wolsey and Wagner.
The program is part of the South Dakota Statewide Family Engagement Center in Rapid City. The group focuses on student needs from cradle to career.
