South Dakota flood damage reporting deadline is July 12

Posted

PIERRE — The South Dakota Office of Emergency Management reminds residents and businesses the deadline to submit damage reports related to recent flooding is July 12. This data collection is crucial for seeking a presidential disaster declaration.

To submit your flood damage report, visit the state website at sd.gov. Once on the site, you will find the link to the form prominently displayed at the top of the page. The form requires detailed information, including the property address, contact information, estimated building value, and basic damage details. Additionally, including photographs of the damage is essential to support your submission.

Submitting the form is a necessary step but does not guarantee assistance. However, detailed and accurate information will play a vital role in efforts to secure federal aid through FEMA.

Please submit damage data by the end of the day on July 12. The South Dakota OEM is an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
