New owners for Flandreau Bakery

Posted

After years of hoping the right buyer might come along so that they could retire, brothers Don and Ed Duncan are happy to announce that the Flandreau Bakery will once again see its doors reopen.
The Duncans formally closed up shop ahead of the Christmas holiday after 91 years in business. It was confirmed Monday morning that Marty Parsley is purchasing the business with the intent of reopening the bakery. His son Joe will manage the operation. More details will follow in next week’s edition but what the Moody County Enterprise was able to confirm as of Monday morning is that the sale has gone through and Main Street will once again find the scent of donuts in the air and the sound of friends gathering each morning in the same place it has for generations.
The Parlsey family is local to Flandreau and Marty has farmed east of town for many years. Marty and Joe are already looking for good help with the business. The Duncan brothers will also be working with them through this transition period.
