It is likely hard for most of us to imagine celebrating 71 years of marriage, but Leo and Cecilia Rice of Flandreau are still sharing a lot of love and laughter with each other and their friends and staff at Riverview Healthcare Center.
The couple, in large part because of how long they’ve been married, was voted Mr. and Mrs. Valentine by other residents this past week. The two were given heart necklaces and matching shirts to wear as they attended events throughout the day. Staff at Riverview also hosted a special lunch for the two that included a photo from their wedding day.
Cecilia is from Larchwood originally; Leo is from Flandreau. The two met very early on in life and raised their seven children on a farm outside of Flandreau before moving, later in life, into town. Within the past year-and-a-half, both moved into the nursing home. The couple is able to remain together in the same room.
