A Renner man died Saturday morning near the Flandreau exit on Interstate 29 when he hit ice with the pickup he was driving, went into the median and was ejected from his vehicle.
Sixty-year-old Kasper Malsam, who was driving north, landed on the southbound lane of the interstate near exit 114 and was run over by an SUV, according to the state Department of Pubic Safety. He was not wearing a seat belt before the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
An 11-year-girl from Dell Rapids in Malsam’s vehicle received minor injuries and was wearing a seatbelt.
