FLANDREAU – Flier senior Dylan LeBrun celebrated his final Parent’s Night at the high school level in style as Flandreau beat De Smet 61-44 in a Lake Central Conference boys’ basketball game.
The Augustana commit topped the 2,000-point mark for his career – he’s the school-recordholder in the category. LeBrun completed the double-double with 11 rebounds and also dished out five assists.
"We had a fun night,” said Flier coach Brendan Sheppard. “Parent's Night was great and Dylan scoring his 2,000th point made for a special evening.
“We played a great game defensively and really got after them on that end. Only allowing 15 points in the first half was a tremendous effort."
The home team was up 20-9 after a quarter and extended the advantage to 34-15 at the break. The Fliers were on top 56-31 through three.
Connor LeBrun added seven points and five dimes. Grady Gullickson had six points and four boards.
De Smet (9-11, 1-5) got 14 points from Gage Gruenhagen, 11 by Ethan McCune and 10 from Trevin Holland.
Flandreau wrapped up the regular season with a 15-5 record. The Fliers tied for second in the LCC with a 4-2 mark.
Flandreau plays host to Flandreau Indian School (8-11) in the first round the Region 2A Tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 27.
