Flandreau Fridays, the popular event showcasing the rich cultural tapestry of Flandreau, returns on June 21, for its fourth year. Established in 2021, the event highlights the diversity of this small rural South Dakota town, home to large Filipino, Hispanic, and Native American populations along with countless other strong family heritages.

Flandreau Fridays- Stage is set this week

Flandreau Fridays, the popular event showcasing the rich cultural tapestry of Flandreau, returns on June 21, for its fourth year. Established in 2021, the event highlights the diversity of this small rural South Dakota town, home to large Filipino, Hispanic, and Native American populations along with countless other strong family heritages.
Organized by a dedicated committee of local volunteers, Flandreau Fridays has grown each year, drawing in local and regional food vendors, musicians, dance groups, and other talents. Local downtown businesses will also be open, aiming to attract new visitors.
This year’s event schedule:
● 5:00 – 5:10: Bagpipes
● 5:10 – 5:15: Youth National Anthem
● 5:15 – 5:20: Flag Song by Wakpa Ipaksan Singers
● 5:20 – 5:25: Introduction by Annie Garcia, with special thanks to Mayor Dan Sutton, City Administrator Cole Turnquist, City Council Members Mark Ekern, Karen Tufty, Mike Fargen, Curt Ahlers, Brad Bjerke, Tim Yeaton, FF Committee Members Serena Pederson, Leah Dailey, Itzel Soto Guerrero, Kim Hansen, Emily Pieper, Bret Severtson, Adam Day, Yancie Harris, and the Flandreau community.

● 5:25 – 5:55: Flandreau City Band
● 6:00 – 6:10: Ben Kulm
● 6:15 – 6:30: Lyla Thompson
● 6:30 – 6:35: Boys & Girls Club Raffle Announcement
● 6:40 – 7:10: Irish Dancers
● 7:10 – 7:25 Dakota District Bagpipes
● 7:25 – 7:45 Painted Rhythm
● 7:45 – 7:50 Blackstone Raffle Announcement
● 7:50 – 8:50 Azteca
● 8:50 – 9:00 Painted Rhythm Round Dance
Partners include the City of Flandreau’s City Works Department and Electricians, First National Bank, First Savings Bank, BarX, Liberty’s Troops, Patriot Electric, Flandreau Fire Department, Dakota Layers, Royal River Casino, Native Nations Cannabis, and Troy’s Wood Specialties.
Local businesses either set up or open downtown during the event include Bar X Bar, Boutique on the Farm, El Rinconsito, Fat Boys Bar, Gone 2 Pieces, Grizzly Meats, Little Mexico, Mad Mary’s, The Filling Station, and The Merc.
This year, VFW Post 3351 joins the event, offering an open house and an all-American meal. Kids can showcase their history knowledge for a prize, while hamburgers and hot dogs will be available for sale. Veterans will also present their Veterans Center, available for public rental.
Flandreau Fridays promises to be an evening of celebration to experience the vibrant cultural heritage of Flandreau.
