Flandreau Fridays celebrates another successful year

Posted

After working through the first-ever rain delay for the local Flandreau Fridays celebration, it was another successful year for the multicultural event. Hundreds turned out on what was a beautiful summer evening to watch performances from local and regional dancers and artists, feast on local and global fare, and spend time meeting new neighbors and connect with old friends in the heart of the downtown area. Vendors and various organizations lined both Wind and Second Streets. The original date for the event this year, June 21st, was postponed due to ongoing torrential downpours. The new date meant a few businesses and artists were unable to attend due to conflicts with their schedules but overall, organizers say, it was a great event and they are already looking ahead to what more they might do to add to the experience and encourage locals to take part in 2025.
