FLANDREAU – The Flandreau Blue Teal lost a cross county match-up to the Colman A’s 6-3 on Tuesday, July 16.
Colman got on the board first with a run scoring on an error and Paul Clark’s double in the top of the first inning. Flandreau cut the lead in half when Michael Witte drew a leadoff walk and stole second base before scoring on an error in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Chris Burke put Colman ahead 3-1 with a double in the top of the fifth inning but Flandreau answered with a rally in the bottom of the fifth. Tristan Peters drew a walk to lead off the inning before advancing to second on a wild pitch and advancing to third on Braden Peters’s ground out. Tanner Christenson capitalized with an RBI single to cut the lead down to 3-2.

But Colman had too much offense as a run scored on a balk and an A Fritz RBI single in the top of the sixth inning.
Flandreau staged a final rally in the bottom of the sixth inning. Mason Riley led off with a walk and advanced to third base on an error and a groundout by Kolby Peters. The Blue Teal loaded the bases with Paul McGlone’s walk and a Tristan Peters HBP and Sam Gassman drove in a run with a single.
But Flandreau couldn’t get any more out of the rally and Clark drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning for the final run of the game.
Ethan Johnson started for Flandreau, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits and a walk with three strikeouts over 5.1 innings. Sam Gassman finished the game, allowing an earned run on a hit with two strikeouts over the final 1.2 innings.
Flandreau had four hits. Christenson went 1-for-4 with an RBI. Gage Sharping, Kolby Peters and Sam Gassman each went 1-for-3.
