The East Central Middle School Honor Band was held on the SDSU campus March 20. Middle School band students from several schools gathered for the day where they rehearsed several pieces of music under the direction of Jakob Wallace. A concert was performed for the public that evening.
Attending from Colman-Egan were (above), (not in any particular order) 6th Graders Jenna Olson and Jesse Baumberger, 7th Graders Teghan Hovaldt and Isaak Thompson and 8th Graders Nevaeh Smith, Bridgette Baumberger, Karisma Rennich and Torry Harding.
Colman-Egan music department keeping busy with concerts, contests
The Colman-Egan High School Choir attended a Solo/Ensemble Contest held at Augustana University on Monday, March 12th in Sioux Falls. The group had nineteen entries in the contest. Nine of the entries were vocal solos, one piano solo and eight mixed ensembles. Colman-Egan was awarded one Good Rating, eleven Excellent Ratings and seven Superior Ratings. The choir has grown so much in the past three years having gone from four entries to nineteen.
Then on Tuesday, March 13, the band participated in the Tri-School Band Festival at the Oldham-Ramona School.
Colman-Egan, Oldham-Ramona and Rutland bands gather for a day of rehearsals and a concert that evening. This year the students and their band directors, Ronda Olson, Amber Misar and Reggie Gorter worked together to prepare 8 pieces of music. The bands then combined under the direction of Jason Rygg who is the Director of Bands at the George McGovern Middle School in Sioux Falls.
