PIERRE — The 2024 Canada Goose August Management Take season will run Aug. 17-31.

Open areas for this season will be:

Meade County south of state Highway 34, Pennington County west of the Cheyenne River and the counties of Brown, Clark, Codington, Day, Deuel, Edmunds, Faulk, Hamlin, Grant, Marshall, McPherson, Roberts and Spink, with a daily bag limit of 15 Canada geese and no possession limit.

This is a resident-only season. Hunters will need an annual small game or combination license and state migratory bird certificate. The federal waterfowl stamp is not required.

The counties of Aurora, Beadle, Bon Homme, Brookings, Clay, Davison, Hanson, Hutchinson, Jerauld, Kingsbury, Lake, Lincoln, McCook, Miner, Minnehaha, Moody, Sanborn, Turner, Union and Yankton are closed for the August Management Take Hunting Season. This is a change from 2023.
