Helping to cheer the South Dakota State University Jackrabbits on to another national football title this season was Flandreau native Libby Hursey.
“It has been a blast to be able to experience a national championship two years in a row. Being able to cheer in front of all our fans is an experience that not everyone gets and it is so cool to look up into the stands and see so many people backing the Jacks,” she said.
Hursey spoke with the Moody County Enterprise on her way home Monday from the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) game that was held Sunday in Frisco, Texas. The Jackrabbits beat the Montana Grizzlies 23-3.
Highlights of the trip, Hursey said, included a pep rally at Ford Center, and winning the game. But something she’ll never forget, “I think the best memory so far has been walking out of our locker room area about 40 minutes until kickoff and seeing the sea of blue in the stands. The support of Jackrabbit Nation is support like no other. It was amazing to see all the fans come and support the Jacks.”
